Byron Bay & Ranges – 1 wk

maps-byron-bay-hills The lush mountains and unspoilt coast of northern NSW have gained an international reputation that goes by the name of Byron Bay. But while the town at Byron Bay bursts at its seams, the Byron Bay Hinterland offers spectacular riding and friendly locals.

Our recommended route needs at least five days and preferably a week. It’s a relaxing part of the world, with smart B&B’s, retreats, lodges & small towns full of quality cafes & pubs.

From the town of Grafton, the ride tours through the Washpool National Park before you head north to cross the Border Ranges. The scenery is spectacular, with backdrops including Mount Warning NP, Lamington NP & the Border Ranges NP.  Great campsites are to be found throughout these areas & walks & stop-offs such as Natural Bridge (check out the glow worms) just add to the magic of this whole area.

mount-warning Mount Warning is part of an ancient volcano. It’s peak catches the first sunlight of the day in Australia. It’s an easy ride through Uki to the Lighthouse at Bryon Bay, the most easterly point of the Australian continent. The Byron Bay Beach Hotel has great food, accommodation and a festive atmosphere, right at the beach.
