Uluru & Outback – 1mth

maps-big-red-centre A journey into the heart of Australia, through it’s hypnotic outback. This is certainly one of the great bike rides of the world.

There are any number of different routes to take. Our favourite takes a minimum of 18 days of riding over 7000km. While a month might be possible, six weeks to two months would be ideal, if not longer.

The trek out from Coffs Harbour reaches Longreach, home to the very famous ‘Stockman’s Hall of Fame’. Mt Isa is 1000km away from the nearest metropolitan area, yet it has gained notoriety for hosting the biggest rodeos in the southern hemisphere. If you like to ride horses, it’s really worth trying to hook up with one.

new-uluru.jpg Alice Springs is the gateway to Uluru, the wondrous and mystical rock that rises from the desert. It’s a centre of expansive Aboriginal heritage and a gateway to exploring the surrounding MacDonnell Ranges and Kings Canyon.

Coober Pedy is know as the ‘opal capital of the world’ and has attractions such as a town built underground. Port Augusta is a town of contrasts; it is a large port with seaside plains yet surrounded by the stunning Flinders Ranges on one side and desert on the other. Broken Hill has inspired artists for years with its stunning outback scenery. Tamworth is the Country music capital of Australia, and one of the last stops before the final run over the mountains and through the World Heritage rain forests and into Coffs Harbour.

A ride to the centre of Australia is only possible between the months of March and November. From December through to February, the intense heat is best suited to the hardy locals. Contact us for more information.
