Weekends Away

bikes-in-rainforest The Coffs Coast of NSW is a great place to ride a bike for a day or two. Classic rides abound.

One of the most requested weekend trips is the overnight cruise up to Byron Bay, returning comfortably to Coffs Harbour the next day. There is a picturesque loop which winds its way around the Byron Hinterland.  There are a number of accommodation options, both in Byron Bay as well as in the lush mountains behind.

For a one day ride, it’s very hard to go past the Waterfall Way. It is considered Australia’s second best road for touring. The picturesque Bellingen Valley rises through the World Heritage listed rain forests and over the Great Dividing Range. A loop north along the Nymboida River will bring you to Russel Crowe’s new pub, home to treasures from the Gladiator movie as well as a custom made Harley for the Rabbitoh’s rugby league club.

It includes the National Motorbike Museum, before crossing the Barrington Tops into the back country and off the beaten track. You return back over the Great Dividing Range through the majesty of the Dorrigo rain forests.
